Carol Bloom Levin
My work as a visual artist and kid lit writer spans six decades. The methods shift, but my priorities are constant–– a love of nature, the balance between quiet and bold, and curiosity.
I find inspiration from life experiences. Virtually every painting starts with a sketch, photograph or indelible memory. Personal history morphs into paintings and picture books. Characters on paper and canvas communicate through body language. House interiors and recipe paintings turn into intimate portraits. Landscapes capture the familiar and exotic.
Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, my current children’s book projects treat tough topics with wordplay and humor. I want kids to feel proud of their strengths, recognize challenges, and explore the possibilities.
